Sewage pumps are essential part of cleaning system of any city or home. One can imagine what will be condition without these sewage pumps. There are several types and sizes of sewage pumps designed for different application, general or special. Most of the commercial and residential plumbing waste line system has general-purpose sewage pumps. Furthermore, specific types of pumps are designed for particular type of industrial applications.

A sewage pump has an electric or fuel powered turbine enclosed in housing. This housing has an inlet and outlet ports connected in line with plumbing waste system. When waste flows into the pump having blades and turbine drives it through outlet and throws into the waste management container. It moves fluids form the home into a sewage treatment solution such as a septic tank or a public utility.
 
Choosing a right sewage pump, though often ignored, is a very essential step in the plumbing process. To save you from future plumbing issues or an event of flooding, make sure that you buy right sewage pump. However, it is quite confusing to choose one out of wide choices available.
 
The power of a pump is defined by its horsepower and the greater the power, more fluid it can move. Most homes can do with a pump with half horsepower engine. If your house is at a location where water level is low or experience regular flooding, you will need a pump with more horsepower. Capacity and the vertical height of the pump are also very important while selecting it. Capacity of a pump is defined gallons per hours. For a typical High pressure pump, the vertical height is around 25 feet that means, it can lift fluid to 25 feet at its hourly capacity.  It is better to buy a pump with more capacity rather than buying one with under capacity.
 
When it comes to its types, there are primarily two types; submerged and pedestal. Submerged pump has a waterproof electric motor that remains submerged in the water. On the other hand, pedestal pumps perform the same function, but stay out of water. Most homeowners choose Sump pump, as they are reliable and can be easily installed.
