Tensile testing is a major testing procedure that is used in a variety of industries and production verticals to judge the quality and strength of the materials for various applications.
The tensile testing gives an idea about the behavior of a material when it is subjected to a force of tensile natures. The Testing Procedure
The testing procedure is commenced using an advanced testing instrument called Tensile Testing Machine. During the testing procedure, the test specimen is placed under two jaws provided with the instrument and clamped firmly. Once the specimen is placed at its right place, the Jaws are pulled apart to apply tension on the specimen. The tension is applied on the sample until it reaches the point of fracture. When the fracture occurs in the test sample, the force applied on the sample is recorded and this is used for calculating the tensile strength of a material.
