One thing that is almost more essential than anything else when it relates to efficiency is organization. If you or your business isn't adequately organized,The Importance Of Conformity Among Your Company Locations Articles then the functions will be a lot less efficient than they should be. Everything from payroll to the actual manufacturing of a product and the distribution of services has to be correctly organized.
All processes must have written steps and procedures, making them standardized throughout each and every location and facility. If you allow individual locations to write and decide how a process is done and there is no uniformity and conformity, then linking these business and facilities together is practically impossible. That's how fast food chains and restaurant chains are so successful. When you step into one of these locations, you know exactly what you are going to receive.
You know how the fries are going to tastes and you know that the pizza will be nearly identical to the last one that you ordered. These are consistencies that make a consumer comfortable and relaxed, knowing that they aren't in for any surprises. This is how the processes should work in any well run organization. One worker must be able to move to another location and never miss a beat because the process is the exact same.
This allows for linking up with other areas in writing policies, expectations in production and even in buying materials. But it all starts with being well organized and knowing how everything is going to work in relation to everything else in the facility. If there is an emergency, you don't want the maintenance crew running around trying to decide how they are going to resolve the problem.
Of course you want them to have the capacity to think on their feet and improvise when needed, but you want common problems to have predetermined solutions which are the same throughout the facility and the company. When this is attained, then things run much smoother and much cleaner. But it takes forethought and some organizing. It also takes a little more work upfront, but in the end, it will make everyones job less difficult. These policies and processes do not just have to be spelled out for emergencies, but from each individual task and job. Consistency and conformity makes certain that the job is performed as efficiently as possible each and every time and by each and every individual worker. When you have a baseline to follow, it's much easier to get measurements of progress.
