If one wants to use the existing Gantt chart in much more efficient manner then the best way to do so is to enhance it.

With little understanding, one can modify the applications related to Gantt chart and he or she can use it effortlessly. It is true that features vary from one application to other but some of the features are common to all the applications.

Some of the ways in which the chart can be made proficient are:

• You should never forget to add detailed notes in the Gantt chart that are self-explanatory in nature. This plays a key role in cases where no constraints are there on a task. Surely, by adding these notes, one can prevent any conflicts happening in the basic plan and chart can be enhanced with ease.
• You should always mark the critical paths in bold in Gantt chart  so that they never get out of your mind. Generally, critical path of project is related to various tasks and this helps is gauging which tasks should not be delayed at any cost. This is because delay in such tasks can delay the delivery of entire project.
• Whenever the starting date or the ending date of the project is changed, the entire duration of the project gets affected and this is not desirable at all. Thus, the scheduling of both the starting date and ending date of the project should be done with care.
• If you plan to enhance the Gantt chart then do so without making it complex. The chart should be simple enough so that everyone associated with the project can understand it and at the same time can figure out the critical path. This is because if the project takes long time to complete, its critical path can be altered to lower down the duration of project completion.
