So many ways exist to use duct tape as a substitute for string, cordage, or rope.

Initially we have the option of just taping things together that we would normally need to tie up or tie down. Maybe we normally would need to tie the supports posts or poles of an outdoor shelter in place. We can utilize the duct tape on those posts and secure them that that way instead. We could take a length of tape,Urgent Uses. Articles then twist it up long ways until it ends up as a passable section of sticky adhesive rope. I would not go as far as to use it to hang from or some crazy mountain climbing, but it can surely tie something together with good results.

Anything you can or would normally tie together, you can most likely tape it up as well. As the soldiers showed us during our wars, duct tape can hold together plenty of things out in the field, and secure a whole lot of things as well.

NASCAR’s 200 tape is very important to have on hand during a race. Taping up a cracked car window, it’s always duct tape to the rescue because it can really help when you need something strong and sticky. Find a tear in your tent or sleeping bag? Duct tape. Shoes falling apart? Duct tape. Maybe that is why duct tape is listed as one of the greatest 100 creations of mankind.

What about the duct tape hammock? It is created by finding two poles or sticks for the ends of the hammock and then using the appropriate length of tape to fasten the poles together. A foot or two longer than your body length would do nicely.  Repeat that step six to eight times and weave shorter strips down and across the length involved until you have a serious checkerboard hammock. Hang that hammock between two trees and you will have a comfortable place to sleep for a spell.

You can also connect to each other old feed bags to make a good temporary tarp for your sheltering. This type of homemade tarp will last as long if not longer than those blue ones but only costs a fraction of the price. Searching the internet for duct tape ideas will show you several styles of footwear, shoes and sandals. Footwear is so very important in our daily use situations. It is a terrible mistake to walk around in damaged shoes. Another great idea and smart thing to do is to strengthen the knees and elbows of your work clothing, as if you do they will not wear out nearly as fast.

I very much look forward to writing forever about all the possibilities with duct tape, and also sharing the new ideas as they come along. Every survival show i have ever watched praises supreme the almighty roll of duct tape, and there seems to always be an endless amount of normal daily uses for it. When i was young, i used duct tape to repair second hand text books for school. See my point?
