Whether you’re familiar with bushel baskets but aren’t sure how to make them work in your store, or are simply in the market for some new display ideas for your products, use the following five questions to help you begin using bushel baskets to create merchandise displays.

1. Where will you display the merchandise?

Knowing how much display space you have to work with will help you determine the sizes and number of bushel baskets to use. Just make sure you choose a space that your customers will be able to easily see and access.

2. What merchandise will you display?

Bushel hampers are excellent display fixtures for showcasing merchandise like fresh produce, but you can display nearly anything that doesn’t need a wrapper in these baskets.

3. Which bushel baskets will work best for you?

Once you know where you’re going to situate your baskets and what you’re going to put in them, you can choose which and how many baskets to order.

Keep in mind that you can find bushel hampers in natural wood colors or in fun, bright colors. Choose the baskets that will work best with your store’s current “look” or the specific visual appeal you want to achieve.

4. How do your customers react to the bushel basket display?

Now that you have your display space, merchandise, and bushel baskets, it’s time to give your display a test run.

Pay attention to how your customers react to the display. Are you seeing an increase or decrease in sales? Can your customers easily access the products? Is the display conveniently located, or do customers have to go out of their way to reach or avoid it? The answers to these questions will help you determine whether the display is a success as is or if you need to make any changes.

5. What can you do with your old bushel baskets?

As is the case with other kinds of display fixtures, bushel baskets don’t necessarily have to be tossed out once you’re finished with them.

For example, if your old bushel baskets are still in fairly good shape, you can use them in your store’s stockroom to store merchandise awaiting display, or you can situate them in your business’s dining area to hold bags of snacks for your employees.

You can even donate your old baskets to other retail stores or charities.
