Have you asked yourself, "What am I really committed to"? It is now time to check in to see how you're doing with your New Year's intentions. How is your progress? What can you celebrate about honoring your intentions for this year? Where are you falling short of your expectations and what needs to happen to get back on track?
Here we are, half way through the year! It's a great time to ask yourself: "What am I really committed to"? For those of you who have gone through one of my workshops, remember our discussion about the "wants" vs. the "shoulds" -- what is it that you really WANT? What are you willing to commit to?
Take the time to check in to see how you're doing with your New Year's intentions (notice I did not call them resolutions!). How is your progress? What can you celebrate about honoring your intentions for this year? Also, where are you falling short of your expectations and what needs to happen to get back on track?
Now is the time to look at who you want to BE - who will you "show up" as in the world this year? Since most clients tell me that their main areas of focus are both work and personal life, let's take a look at these areas:
WORK:
1. What are you MOST committed to at work? How are these commitments tied to your organization's core values? How are these commitments tied to your personal values?
2. How do these commitments fit into the bigger picture? How do they fit into your other work priorities? How will you integrate these commitments into the bigger picture of your organization's or team's overall goals for the year?
3. Who will you be at work this year? Specifically, how will you "show up" at work -- as a leader? A follower? An empowered change agent? What will be your chosen role (yes, it CAN be a choice!)?
4. What is the impact you are committed to having on the world through your work? What is important to you about that impact? What difference will that impact make on your team, your entire organization, your larger community and the entire world?
5. Who will you share your commitments with? The chances of achieving your desired intentions and goals increases by up to 65% when you share your commitment with another person. Who will you tell? By when?
6. What support and accountability do you need to ensure that you stay committed to these intentions so that you can have the impact you desire? You will have a 95% chance of achieving your goals if you commit to another person and schedule regular, ongoing accountability/check-in discussions. If you don't have someone you can do this with who is truly committed to your ongoing success, contact us about how coaching can support you - that's what we do in coaching, is support you and hold you accountable to your most meaningful goals on a regular basis, so that you WILL achieve them!
PERSONAL/HOME LIFE:
1. What are you MOST committed to personally? How are these commitments tied to your personal values?
2. How do these commitments fit into the bigger picture? How do they fit into your other personal priorities? How will you integrate those commitments into the bigger picture of your overall intentions/goals for the year?
3. Who will you be in your personal life this year? Specifically, how will you "show up" at home and socially -- as an energized and enthusiastic person living your desired life? Or, tired and uninspired? This is a wonderful time to consciously choose who you will be this year!
4. What is the impact you are committed to having on the world? What is important to you about that impact? What difference will that impact make on your life? Your loved ones? Your community? The entire world?
5. Who will you share your commitments with? Remember, the chances of you achieving your desired intentions and goals increase significantly when you share your commitment with another person. Who will you tell?
6. What support and accountability do you need to ensure that you stay committed to these intentions so that you can have the impact you desire? You will have a 95% chance of achieving your goals if you commit to another person and schedule regular, ongoing accountability/check-in discussions. If you don't have someone you can do this with who is committed to your ongoing success, contact us about how coaching can support you - that's what we do in coaching is support you and hold you accountable to your most meaningful goals, so that you achieve them and live the life you most desire!
Now that you have explored these questions, how do you feel now about your commitments for this year? What else do you need in order to complete your commitments and stay on track for the rest of the year?
Please remember to CELEBRATE completing this process! Do something fun, or find a way to acknowledge the time and energy you put into ensuring that you're setting the foundation for a successful year. Most of all, ENJOY!!!
