DIN or Director Identification Number is a unique number that is allotted to an existing or a potential director or soon to be directors by the Central Government. It contains all the personal information of the director. All the details of the director are maintained in a database through this 8 digit number. This number has lifetime validity.
DIN is a number that is specific to an individual, which means even if the person is a director at two different companies, his DIN remains the same. Even if the director leaves the existing company and joins another company, the same DIN number remains.
How to apply for DIN?
e-Form SPICe+
Allotment of DIN for first directors in new companies has to be made only through an e-form SPICe+ Form during the Process of Incorporation of Company.
e-Form DIR-3
If a person wants to become a director in a company that already exists, then the allotment of DIN has to be made through an application in e-form DIR-3.
e-Form DIR-6
Any change in the information of the director has to be filed in e-form DIR-6.
The above-mentioned forms need to be applied electronically for the application of DIN. These forms need to be digitally signed and uploaded in the MCA 21 portal.
