If this did not occur; the flag would not be around when the African Americans wanted to have equality. As an opposition to the Confederacy flag; the battle flag came back and made its presence known.
This flag has now become a symbol of history and heritage. It is now used as though the civil rights movement never even existed. However; the civil rights movement is what it is all about.
