After 31st October 2018, cheques will no longer be supported in the UK. If your business depends on receiving payments by cheque, then you need to plan to phase them out over the next 8 years. Fortunately, Direct Debit offers a great alternative for most businesses – and provides many advantages over cheques for the vast majority of businesses.
What will you do when cheques are phased out in the UK?

These include payments between individuals, and payments to sole traders, small businesses, clubs, charities and schools. The goal is to ensure that by 2018 there is no scenario where customers, individuals or businesses, still need to use a cheque.
