The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by CBSE offers an opportunity to B.Ed. graduates to improve their skills and career prospects. Candidates who qualify the exam have better job opportunities and are offered better salary as compared to those who are not CTET qualified. The exam was intended to have a common standard for teachers’ recruitment all over the country. The official notification for CTET 2018 exam is yet to be released. However, the candidates have already started their preparations. Here is the detailed exam pattern of CTET which will help you in better preparation.

CTET 2018 Exam Pattern

CTET exam consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying one mark each. There will be no negative marking. CTET exam is conducted for two papers:

  • Paper I (Primary Stage): For teaching classes I to V
  • Paper II (Elementary Stage): For teaching classes VI to VIII

Those who want to teach at both the levels will have to appear for both the papers. Let’s have a detailed look at the pattern of both the papers.

CTET Paper I Pattern

Paper I is conducted for those candidates who are interested in teaching primary level classes (from I to V). The duration of the exam is two and a half hours. Here is the section-wise distribution of questions and marks:

CTET Paper II Pattern
