How to fix Device Manager Error: Code14 to Code 29

In the last article I gave you information about the device manager error code from code 1 to 12. Now in this article I will continue further let you know about error codes concerned with corrupted driver, corrupted registry etc. 

Code 14: This device cannot work properly until you restart your computer.

Reason: This problem occurs when installed driver require overwriting of some files which are currently in use.

Solution: Restart the computer.

Code 16: Windows cannot identify all the resources this devices uses.

Reason: Improper configuration of device driver settings.

Solution: To specify the additional resources for the error prone device, click the Resources tab in the Device Properties dialog box for a specific device in device manager. If there is a resource with a question mark next to it in the list of resources assigned to the device, select that resource to assign it to the device. By using Change Setting you can assign the specific resource or select the option of Use Automatic Settings to use resources randomly depending on the availability at the time of using it.

Code 18: Reinstall the drivers for this device.

Reason: This problem occurs due to corrupted driver file.

Solution: Uninstall the corrupted device driver and reinstall it. Also update device driver using Hardware Update Wizard.

Code 19: Windows cannot start this hardware because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. To fix this problem you should uninstall and then reinstall the hardware device.

Reason: This problem occurs when the data in the registry for the devices and its driver have been damaged.

Solution: For solution of this problem you can edit your registry by using the following procedure:

1. Click Start and type regedit in Start Search box and then click regedit in the Programs list
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

3.      Make changes according to need and then restart the computer.

4.      If you had done a mistake while making changes then Restart the computer in Safe Mode and then select Last Known Good Configuration. This will rollback all your changes till the last secure restore point.

Code 21: Window is removing this device.

Reason: This device is currently being uninstalled by Windows and some files are remaining and uninstallation of device is still in progress

Solution: Refresh the computer and if problem still exist then restart the computer after uninstallation of device driver is complete.

Code 22: This device is disabled.

Reason: The specific device is disabled by the user.

Solution: Click on the Driver tab and enable it.

Code 24: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.

Reason: This problem appears due to bad hardware, removable hardware that is not removed or a replacement is needed. If devices have been prepared for removal then it will not appear to be present.

Solution: Perform complete uninstallation of device and restart the computer.

Code 28: The drivers for this device are not installed.

Reason: The device driver for this device is still not installed.

Solution: For solution of this problem install the device driver by following method:

·         Open device Manager. In details pane, select the device having error Code 28 and for installing the driver software double click the specified software and after clicking on Driver tab update driver using file stored in the storage device.

Code 29: This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources.

Reason: This problem occurs when the BIOS is disabled for that device.

Solution: For making changes on BIOS for that particular device see the hardware documentation or contact the manufacturer for Technical support.
