RAM test: Keeping a tab on yours Computer Memory

·         First of all check the Total amount of RAM you have:

1.      Make a Right click on “My computer”, select “Properties” and then you will have System Properties on your screen.

2.      Click on the General tab then your computer will show your System configuration along with total amount of RAM installed in your computer.

3.      Now a days commonly people use 1GB RAM. But on the safer side use 2GB RAM.

This tool performs few comprehensive tests on your computer, analyzes RAM performance and generates results. You should follow the steps mentioned below for testing the speed of your Computer’s RAM:

·         For using MEMTEST86+ you have to crate bootable media .You can create startup disk on USB, Optical disk or floppy drive. Then executable the file (mtinst.exe) following the download, and chooses “Create Startup Disk” to create optical disc of the diagnostic tool.

·         Shut down your computer and reboot MEMTEST86+ from the optical disk. If you have problem booting the media then make sure the boot order in your system’s BIOS is set to boot the optical drive or USB flash Drive ahead of your hard drive.

·         Then MEMTEST86+ will start to test your Computer’s RAM. This test includes eight phases if your RAM completes all of them with no fatal problem then you need not to worry else if RAM fails in the test then you have no other option and you have to get a new RAM. You will get result that will show the current status of you RAM condition on your computer interface. Exit the diagnostic tool once the test has completed.
