Let’s face it, dinner and a movie is so boring, it might be ok for a first date, but not for Valentine’s Day. February 14th is a day for you fellas to really stand out and show your girl (or woman) how much you care about her. That means taking some time to really plan out a few truly unique and romantic ideas for V-day. Then focus in on the one idea that you know she will love.
And the reality is that many of you won’t sit down and take the necessary time out of your day to plan such an event, so I’ll help you. Here are some ideas for a truly unique Valentine’s Day date.
The Aquarium – It sounds boring, but remember girls love romance especially on Valentine’s Day. A couple hours at the aquarium is actually a very romantic outing. It’s also a chance to have fun, enjoy conversation, and learn about each other.
Shopping & Dinner – What girl doesn’t love to shop. Even more she would go crazy if you told her you were taking her to the mall to shop with her! Here’s what you do…take her to her favorite store, tell her she has 1 hour to pick out a dress or outfit within the price limit you set, let her change clothes quickly at home and then whisk her away to a fancy restaurant!
Scavenger Hunt – Send her on a scavenger hunt to memorable places from your past as a couple: location of your first kiss, first date, first dance, etc. Write clues to make her guess where the next location will be and give her a rose at each location, tell her why this spot is memorable to you and end the night with dinner and dancing. (My now husband did this for me on our 1 year dating anniversary. I was amazed at his planning, attention to detail, and how well he remember each spot. Some spots I didn’t even remember, but he told me things like “this is where I first saw you on campus” or “this is where I realized I loved you, even though I didn’t tell you until weeks later.” Obviously he won my heart.)
Dinner Invite – Maybe you and your girl haven’t been dating long enough for something too serious but you would like to take her out to a nice dinner. Be creative in how you ask her out to dinner. Send your best friend, dressed in a suit with a rose and a card to her door. Have him tell her he has a special message for her. Give her the rose and the card. Inside the card write something like, “It would be my pleasure to enjoy your company at 7:00 pm on the evening of Friday February 14th.”
Send her a video email message. Tell her to open it at home and in the video tell her how you want to spend the evening with her on Valentine’s Day.
I know not everyone jumps at the opportunity to spend Valentine’s Day dressed up in a crowded restaurant, but remember you’re girl deserves every chance to feel special. Valentine’s Day is a chance to show her how creative and unique you can be. Prove to her that you aren’t like “every other guy.”
