These days China is having a complete focus on manufacturing of Dual SIM cell phones. One should have to be blind, deaf as well as dumb to be unaware of this fact.

The main reason of popularity of such phones is its low price, but there are some other functions and features found on cheap mobiles that aren't found on name brand phones.

The most widely known of these features is dual SIM, or two SIM cards in one phone.

Most of the people really don't know what the functions of Dual SIM are, and what can be the best use of it. When we came across a dual SIM phone there are two things that should be taken under consideration i.e.

* Dual Standby

** Dual SIM:
Dual SIM can be defined as a single Cell phone that has two SIM card slots. It can also be referred as that can contain and employ two SIM cards in a single GSM supported cellular phone. It is said to be as Dual SIM till it can hold and read 2 SIM's whether it would be a dual SIM TV phone or anything like that.

If a cell phone supports two SIM's, it doesn't mean that both of them will be active at the same time! You would need a dual standby function in order to make this possible.

Most of us must be thinking that a Dual SIM is useless as it is not able to support both SIM's in a single interval of time, but this is not strictly true as only the dual SIM function can:

* Allow you to have two separate connections so that you can be always in touch.
* Allow you to stay connected from both connections from one region to another.
 
** Dual Standby:
A dual standby phone is quite different from Dual SIM phone as it monitors both networks at the same time. While Dual SIM cell phones puts two connections in the same phone, but you need to physically switch them by going into the settings menu.

Dual standby cell phones can dynamically switch between the two networks without requiring your own efforts.

** Working of Dual SIM and Dual Standby:
A dual SIM phones comprises of two SIM cards and almost always have two CPU's. Cellular phones with two CPU's are found rarely. We had observed hundred's of them but found that in very rare cell phones.

A phone with dual SIM function allows you to switch from one network to another manually while dual Standby function does that job dynamically as from which network you are getting a call it switches to that one!
