Modern Scents Compared to the Traditional Ones

The art of making perfume that began in Egypt was later refined by the Persians and Romans. The fragrance varies according to the concentration of aromatic compounds in a solvent.

The longevity and intensity of natural essential oils depends upon its concentration. Commercial perfumes are a combination of complex ingredients and odorants. You will also find those that have fragrances of only wood.

A few famous brands that belong to the traditional family are still available today.  Today with the advance in modern technology and the natural development of styles and taste new categories of perfumes, deodorants and scents have emerged.  

The modern fragrance of the floral family is from the brand Estee Lauder. The one from the green leave and cucumber-like scents is Eau de Campagne.  The one that has aquatic fragrance is Christian Dior’s Dune. From the citrus family the best example would be Brut. There are perfumes that have aromas of fruits and desert like qualities. The fruity example can be Ginestet Botrytis and the one that resembles food flavours is Angel.

Today almost everyone wears perfume. You will find people using perfume soaps, perfume oils, talc, sprays, body deodorants, attars etc, to create an elegant aroma around oneself.  You will find some of them are quite concentrated and the scent will remain on your body for the entire day. There is quite a lot of difference between the scents for men and that for women. In the women’s category there are more variety of fragrances and volumes than in the men’s category.
