The registration procedure for the Common Admission Test has already begun and would be continuing until 20 September. The conducting body of CAT 2017 is IIM Lucknow. The CAT exam would be conducted on November 26, 2017 in two slots. The CAT Admit Card would be available on October 18, 2017. The CAT Application form was made available online since August 9 on the official website to apply for the same. The candidates are required to login and complete the application procedure by uploading photograph, signature and other necessary details.

Common mistakes that students must avoid:

  1. Enough care should be taken while filling information relating to academic qualifications and work experience as during the CAT selection procedure, these scores and information would be used to draw a perspective of the candidate.
  2. Any mistake/error at this point would cause the selection authorities to have a negative opinion on the candidate.

  1. While attempting the Computer Based Exam, the candidates should get used to the interface ad navigate across without any hurdle.
  2. The interface of the Computer Based Exam can be acquainted with by the student, when the mock test is available on the official website.
  3. The test would be moving to the next section once the allotted one hour for the section is over.
  4. Candidates cannot switch across sections while attempting the Common Admission Test, therefore they must attempt all the sections well.
  5. Certain questions across the CAT sections would have to be attempted by typing in the answers in addition to the usual Multiple-Choice based questions.

CAT Scores:

  1. Candidates with lower scores need not panic about getting into IIMs as there are certain compensating factors that they can work on to make their admission into the campus work.
  2. IIMs consider Work Experience to gain a perspective on the candidate in addition to their performance in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview Rounds.

The Common Admission Test would be organized across 140 test centers in the country. Candidates would be having an option of selecting 4 test centers in their order of preference. The CAT 2017 is conducted to determine admissions to courses offered by 20 IIMs and 100 other institutes all over the country. The Graduates should have at least scored 50% to be eligible to write the exam and 45% for graduates belonging to the reserved categories.
