IAS and IPS are India's most prestigious job profile of Sarkari jobs. IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service stands, while IPS stands for Indian Police Service stands. Both are challenging tasks that give you both power and position and responsibilities to society and the nation.
Let us see how the difference between IAS and IPS is!
Recruitment
The UPSC Civil Services Examination selects both IAS and IPS. Aspirants fill in the comprehensive registration form (DAF) of the UPSC the service requirements of their preference, and the final UPSC Sarkari Exam result will decide that which post given to the selected candidates by their rank. The applicant can not take the Civil Services examination after entering the Indian Administrative Service but can appear the Civil Services Examination following being an IPS.
Cadre Controlling Authority
The IAS and the IPS have a separate framework management authority, but they are the All India Services. The IAS Framework Controlling Office is the Minister of Personnel and is directly supervised by the prime minister, however, the Home Ministry of the Framework controls the IPS.
Uniform
Specific uniforms exist in both IAS and IPS. IAS officials have no particular uniform, but they must wear their formal clothes in government events, but IPS must wear their prescribed uniform. Promotions vary in IPS uniforms. They've got to put on each rank a string, sword, and Ashok. Instead of IAS, the general public knows IPS, not clothes.
Administration Power and Responsibility
Both IAS and IPS services have a comprehensive job profile and are both posted on very potent jobs, but IAS is much stronger than DM. An IPS are strictly its department, but all of the district departments are responsible for the IAS(DM). As a DM (district magistrate), an IAS officer is the head of both the police and other departments.
If the IPS communicates with the IAS in compliance with a protocol, the IAS must be accepted. However, it can occur only if the IPS is completely uniform or if the IPS does not wear its cap and does not have to take the IAS. It is often observed that IPS officials don't wear their hats during the meeting with the IAS.
An IAS officer governs the entire district as a district collector. He also represents India's Government on several occasions at the international level. A bachelor's degree from a recognized university is the minimum educational qualification necessary for IAS.
An IPS officer's responsibilities generally include law and order, enforcement, public order, investigative into crimes, etc. Simply put, his primary responsibility is to maintain law and order or public peace. A Bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized college is the minimum educational qualification required to become an IPS officer.
Salary Difference
In India, IPS wages are between Rs 56,100 to Rs 225000 per month. The IAS wage and the Seventh Pay Commission guidelines have changed substantially. IAS salary can be between Rs 56,100 to Rs 2,50,000 a month. Consequently, it notes that the IAS salary is higher than the IPS salary.
