General Information You Need Before Enrolling in an Online College Degree Class

Now that you have made the excellent decision to take an online college degree class there are a few things you need to know before moving forward. Things you probably have not thought about but that are important. 
The truth about any online class is when the course description says it is a two year long course, it will generally take those full two years. You are not necessarily cutting time off the course but you are enjoying the convenience of learning online in your home. 
Be sure to carefully read your syllabus thoroughly so that you do not miss anything important such as where the testing will take place. Some do testing online, and others will ask you to go to their facility if you are local, and take tests there. The instructor will remind you of this as the tests dates get closer. 
Because this is an online college degree class, you will be expected to understand how to use a computer. You will be asked to do things like download files and certain software. You class instruction book will provide the names of the software that you will need to have installed on your PC. 
Make it known to everyone that lives in your household that you are enrolled in an online college degree class. Tell them that you would appreciate it if everyone were to respect that and allow you uninterrupted time daily to study.  If it is your family members then they will realize that the reason you are doing this is to become more successful so that you realize your dream of earning a new career. 
Make sure that the online college that you picked is accredited so that your degree will be recognized anywhere you want to go. This is the most important piece of information you have been given. 
Make time for classes. Come up with a schedule for yourself that works within the rest of you routine. Make it the same time every day or night. You do not want to miss anything from your instructor. You do not know from one day to the next when you teacher will leave you a message or announcements that are important for your learning.
