Plagiarism is an unauthorized use of intellectual property,
which has become an extraordinarily pressing issue nowadays. The totality of human knowledge currently exceeds conceivable limits. Earlier, less people could read and write and their everyday activities were faintly connected with the information flow. Previous generations of humankind did not face problems with plagiarism to such extent as the contemporary humankind does. The totality of human knowledge was not as vast as it is nowadays. Nowadays, many people are inseparably connected with information systems as their everyday activities include primarily information processing in different forms. The issue of plagiarism is especially acute for modern students. Appearance of the Internet and other global information systems conditions the irresistible temptation to utilize some information that was published before. This is like to keep to the beaten track: curriculum of the contemporary educational facilities includes processing of the previously researched materials. The majority of educational establishments provide their students with studying materials that include complex of knowledge in a concrete subject and after research of the provided materials students are expected to create similar works of their own.There is no doubt that plagiarism should be fought with as intellectual property becomes more and more valuable nowadays. However, academic plagiarism should be treated particularly. It is important to remember that the most important outcome of the studying process is the depth of student’s knowledge, understanding of the curriculum and consequential professionalism in the future work. Academic system should not encourage students to some basic paraphrase of the previously published materials with the purpose of avoidance of the plagiarism detection.
