Rob Roy Academy welcomes prospective students with the mission to provide students with a quality education, which ensures technical confidence, self-assurance and the interpersonal skills necessary to obtain licensure, as well as a rewarding career in the beauty and barber industry.
When it comes to finding just the right fit, School Director Sue Deroisier encourages prospective students to come in to see the school. "We encourage interested individuals to not only tour Rob Roy Academy, but actually sit in on a class and interact with students. If you're interested in the esthetics program, you can even receive a facial to get a better feel for the class."
Conveniently located throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Rob Roy Academy boasts five campuses, each of which offers education and training in various fields of beauty and barbering. Aspiring students who desire careers as hair stylists, barbers, salon managers, platform artists, make-up artists, skin care technicians, and many other related fields can acquire sufficient skills and knowledge at Rob Roy Academy to pursue these professional goals.
Rob Roy Academy extends vocational training programs in cosmetology, barber/styling, esthetics, manicuring and instructor training. Its 1,000-1,500-hour cosmetology program,* which is offered at all campus locations, provides practical training in hair styling, cutting, waving, perming, manicuring, pedicures and other related subject matter. Candidates who have successfully completed all required coursework will be prepared to pass mandatory state board exams to become professionally licensed cosmetologists.
Offered at its Worcester and Fall River campuses, Rob Roy Academy's 1,000-hour Barber/Styling program* is designed to prepare graduates to pass the Massachusetts' Board of Barbering Apprentice Exam. "This program is so popular that there is currently a waiting list to enroll," Derosier explains.
Rob Roy Academy's 300-600-hour program in esthetics* enables students to become professional estheticians and make-up artists. This curriculum involves training in facials (European topical and American therapeutic), basic skin treatments, enzymes, and peels.
In addition, students interested in becoming nail technicians can participate in Rob Roy Academy's 130-300-hour manicuring program*, where they will learn how to handle and apply artificial and acrylic nails; how to administer hand massage, nail wraps and gels. Graduates of the manicuring course will be prepared to pass the Massachusetts and Rhode Island State Board Exams.
Rob Roy Academy also provides a comprehensive instructor training program* to experienced graduates desiring to become professional teachers. All successful graduates are awarded diplomas, and participate in a cap and gown graduation ceremony. Students who require financial assistance will be pleased to know that Rob Roy Academy is federally approved and participates in a variety of federal financial aid programs, including federal Pell grant, federally subsidized and un-subsidized Stafford loans, as well as an interest-free payment plan through the school itself -- among other financial assistance options.
Derosier explain that some of the many reasons why students choose Rob Roy Academy is its reputation. "Our teachers care tremendously about their student; many of our students come to us by recommendation from other students."
Accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Arts and Sciences, Rob Roy Academy also extends hands-on training through its community service clinics. "We care more about each student having an opportunity to gain practical experience by providing free clinics to local safe houses and rehabilitation centers," says Derosier. As an added bonus, Rob Roy Academy makes learning fun by enabling students to participate in spring and fall hair shows and competitions, where students are judged on their presentations.
SpaBeautySchools.com recognizes Rob Roy Academy and applauds its quality standards in cosmetology and esthetics training.
