NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery is set to showcase the original works of Bucharest-based artist Iulia-Lavinia Falcan in the exhibition "Plurality of Expression." The event will commence on January 21, 2017, and run until February 10, 2017, with an opening reception on Thursday, January 26, from 6-8 PM.

Iulia-Lavinia Falcan,Broadcasting Life: The Artistry of Iulia-Lavinia Falcan Articles a distinguished artist from Bucharest, Romania, is renowned for her vibrant and evocative portraits of women that challenge traditional perspectives. With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in painting from the National University of Arts in Bucharest, Falcan has developed a unique style that draws inspiration from the colors, faces, and significant events in her life. Her large canvases, often matching the height of her viewers, are a testament to her dynamic approach to art.

A Palette of Emotions

Falcan’s preference for acrylic paints is evident in the persistent vibrancy of her works. Her paintings often feature sections of bodies demarcated like stained glass or defined by triangular patterns and whorls of color. This stylistic choice not only adds depth to her work but also conveys a complexity of emotions with simple, one or two-word titles. According to Falcan, her paintings are a reflection of everyday events and the people she encounters, captured and transmitted onto canvas.

Expanding Horizons

In addition to her canvas work, Falcan has made a name for herself as one of the few muralists in Bucharest. Over the past decade, she has developed a rare mural art business named Madonia Art, painting murals, glass, and found objects. This expansion into different mediums showcases her versatility and commitment to bringing art into various aspects of life.
