How to Implement Commercial Energy Savers Ideas

Commercial energy savers are the need of the hour. All commercial enterprises like schools, hospitals and factories have high energy demand. Even simple and small energy conservation methods will substantially reduce costs and result in energy savings.
Heating and cooling makes for 40% of energy usage in commercial buildings. Electricity accounts for another 40%. Telecommunications and water consumption accounts for remaining 20%.
Commercial businesses can save energy by installing Compact Fluorescent bulbs and LED lighting. Not only do they save energy but also avoid glare that will increase productivity of workers.
• Invest in a power consumption meter to detect where you need to improve usage. Ensure that all your heating and cooling systems are maintained well. Use an adjustable thermostat that automatically lowers the temperature of your heating system at night or when the building is unoccupied.
• Consider a heat pump or geothermal heaters. Keep warm air inside and cold air outside by sealing all doors and windows. Ceiling fans can circulate hot air in winter and make you comfortable.
• HVAC equipment must be well maintained. Keep clean  indoor/outdoor coils and filters. Remember to lubricate and examine pulleys and electrical connections.. See to minimum duct leakages.  HVAC running must be minimized when room is closed.
• Slightly negative pressure must be maintained in Kitchens.. When building is shut, bathroom vents should be closed.  Kitchens must have enough air-circulation. Take care not to over ventilate and waste energy.
• Water heaters must be properly located for  efficient delivery. You must insulate these heaters and make sure that temperature of heating is proper according to local requirements. Keep control over water heaters based on need periods during the course of the day.
• Refrigeration coils must be cleaned  regularly. Make sure they are properly refrigerant charged. Ensure proper defrosting of units. Keep an eye on build up of ice.
• In case of indoor lighting,  make a switch from incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent. Think of  LED lighting instead of incandescent. Try switching to high pressure sodium or metal halide lighting in ware houses.
• In case of outdoor lighting, make sure that it is enough for safety. Ensure that lighting timers are properly set. Consider using sun trackers or photo cells in combination with electronic timers for outdoor lighting. Consider converting incandescent or mercury vapor lighting to high pressure sodium or metal halide lighting. 
• Motors having long run- time must be managed  to save energy. Under 25 hp motors must be replaced with energy efficient motors. A new energy efficient motor will be cost effective in the long run. Motor of optimum size is ideal.
