Is Green Agriculture Far Away?
it is about the new trend of agriculture_organic agriculture.
Nowadays,
we are more likely to choose food made from organic grains and clothes from organic materials, for it's believed that organic agricultural products are healthier than traditional ones. Actually, few people have a full understanding on organic agriculture. Some may wonder how will the "green" agriculture affect our lives?
Simply, organic agriculture, called organic farmingor ecological agriculture, refers to applied technology that confine use of chemicals on crops and keep the mineral elements in soil in good state without chemical pollution.
It can be beneficial to our lives in many ways. First, it well protects the quality of soil for long term use. The restrictions on chemicals such as pesticides and chemical fertilizers can reduce the soil pollution caused by human actions, thus the crops grown on it could not do harm to our health. Moreover, the crop rotation method applied in organic agriculture keeps soil fertile. Some researches shows that fertile soil can help its crops rich in nutritious elements which are good for our health, especially for food. It's said these kind of food tend to taste better than those fertilized by chemicals. In addition, fertile soil can also reduce the risk of being destroyed by some natural disasters such as drought or flood, etc. It seems become stronger to resist against external attacks than the chemically fertilized soil, just like a robust man seldom struck by colds.
However, some deficiencies exist in organic agriculture. The price of organic food and materials is a little high. Many people would hesitate to make a choice between organic products and traditional ones, though the organic ones are healthier. Another problem lies in labour demands. Organic agriculture usually need more labour work than traditional agriculture, resulting in higher production cost.
With the rising popularity of "green" conception, the defects of organic agriculture would be solved through agricultural technology development. Such "green" agriculture could not be far away from us.
