It is an inevitable truth of modern life that work and education often take us further away from home. The more miles we put between us and our family,Planning a Proper Family Reunion Articles the less we see of them. Cousins who grew up together may end up not seeing each other for years on end. In such a scenario, organizing a big family gathering is a possible method to bridge some of the distance.

Planning and executing a family reunion party is a daunting task. The organizer needs to be completely committed and devote much time to tiny details. Planning a family reunion is tougher than planning any other party because of the sheer variety of people who are expected to attend; ranging from grandparents to grandchildren. The party activities must be varied, so that everyone can have fun.

Venue: Outdoors or Indoors?

A family reunion usually involves a lot of guests, a greater part of which comprises of hyperactive children. It is better to have an outdoor family reunion with fun and engaging outdoor activities for children and adults. An indoor party becomes more formal, a party in a garden allows the guests to let loose and relax.

Using Rentals: From Tents to Fun

If you decide to host your event outdoors and you are going to have a large crowd, you should rent tents to help keep the sun off of your guests or in the case of inclement weather, everyone can still remain outdoors and have a good time.  Along with the tents, don't forget to rent tables and chairs so that there is enough seating room as well as serving tables for food. You also have the added advantage of using party rentals which are certain to keep kids (and some adults too) occupied till lunch. In fact, you can turn your reunion into a gala fair by colorful bounce house rentals and inflatable water slide rentals. These not only add color and cheer to a party, but also keep children happily busy. For the slightly older ones, you can organize certain interactive games, such as an obstacle course, treasure hunt, a magic show etc. Hosting games such as three legged race, egg and spoon race, sack race and others is a great way to get the whole family involved in the party.

Party Food for All Ages

A very important part of any party is the food which is served. Snacks served in a party can become more important than the main buffet, if snacks do not go with the theme, it can make or break an otherwise well planned family reunion. Serving a healthy mix of snacks which both children and adult can munch on is a good option. Snacks such as sandwiches, potato chips and other fried munchies are always welcome. As an added bonus, you can also have concession rentals, such as, popcorn machines, cotton candy machines or snow cone machines to make your party snacks interesting.
