Being on a diet is so hard during the last few months of the year. From the minute the Halloween candy and treats arrive at the supermarket to the post Christmas sales,
healthy eating habits seem to fly out of the window. Even with the best of intentions, it is difficult not to throw a bag of candy into the shopping cart every trip to the market. Not only are those couple of months so tempting with treats, it is the time of year people gather for family dinners and holiday parties which always offer buffets of delicious, rich foods and desserts. These parties and dinners often call for fancy attire which means heading to the malls to find just the right outfit to wear to these gatherings. Whether you are going for the formal, sequenced top or a satin dress, you will need to outfit your holiday attire with accessories. From shoes to coats, you may find yourself shopping for an entire wardrobe before you even open a Christmas gift. With your new outfit, you’ll have to stop at the jewelry counter before you head home to pick up some fashion gems including necklaces and earrings to match your new clothes.
The problem with the holidays is it’s a time when people gain weight. So if you’re thinking about losing weight you can almost forget about it until the beginning of January. With the holiday lunches, parties and all of the treats around the office, it is difficult to stay strict with yourself and limit yourself to no desserts and sweets. Did you purchase half price Halloween candy the day after Halloween and eat the whole bag? Who can say no to scrumptious pies on Thanksgiving? Who can pass up an opportunity to participate in the annual Cookie Swap at the office? With all the buffets and the parties, it is difficult to exercise frequently or eat low calorie, well balanced meals. After eating most of your children’s candy from their Halloween pumpkins, you’ll continue the indulgences from Halloween straight through to New Years.
You will start receiving invitations to Christmas parties and holiday gathering for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In preparation for all of these events, you’ll take to the closet and start trying on the holiday outfits you wore the prior years and find the only part of those outfits that fit are the earrings. So it’s back to the mall during the holiday rush to find outfits to wear for these events which make you look stunning and skinny, even if the scale is broken and reading ten additional pounds of water weight. It is rare you need to dress up and wear something fancy but the holidays often call for attire of a more formal nature so picking out something flashy and comfortable is a must.
The holidays are a tough time of year for calorie watchers. With temptations at every turn, they are bound to take over the scales of holiday revelry. As the scale goes up and up, the pies and cakes and cookies just keep providing the enticements that cause people to gain more weight and find their clothes no longer fitting as comfortably. As the New Year approaches, it is easy to put off limiting food consumption and tackle the problem in the coming year. For the holiday celebrations, it is too easy to enjoy the rich and lavish food spreads and succumb to the temptations. So buy a new outfit in the bigger size, grab some dangly, flashy earrings and enjoy the Thanksgiving pies and Christmas cookies. Remember, no matter what size earrings you buy, they will always fit.
