conversations regarding healthcare can be overheard. It is on almost everyone's mind and the uncertainty of how the program will affect each individual is still an unknown. The first phase of the proposed health care plan takes effect in 2011. The government has big hope for this program but there seems to be major drawbacks which must be considered.
The pluses to this plan are that everyone will wind up with insurance coverage and this includes groups that have been living without health insurance for a long time. Older children who choose to go to school and those who don't will now be covered up until age 26 on their parents' policies which will be a big thing. Also, those who have been found to have any health issue and have been prevented from getting health insurance due to a pre-existing condition are eligible for health insurance once again. The new plan will do away with a lifetime maximum benefit so if you have had one in the past this should disappear in 2011 due to the new government regulations.
In fact, those people who are already covered realize that this new plan will be costing a fortune. So for them there is a major downfall, no real benefit but a major increase to the medical premiums. Reality dictates that the real benefit is seen by small majority of the American population but the costs will be everyone's responsibility. Not a welcome prospect when many families are struggling to make ends meet now.
Overall, it seems as if the intent is good but in the overall scheme of things the last thing that Americans need in the current economy are higher monthly bills and that is what the government is handing to them. For those who do not carry health insurance there will be a fine that they must pay as well so they have all residents in a catch all, either pay more for your health insurance or pay a fine. Either way we will be getting that money out of your pocket.
It is such a drastic measure for the government to take in order to enforce this new health care program. The introduction of the health care plan should have been embraced but instead people are resisting it because of the economic strain it will impose. With all the many talented individuals we have in this country one would think that this plan could have be developed with more attention being paid to the cost involved and the affects to the American people.
