The ingredients for this reliever are simple enough, as you will need the following: some q-tips, cotton balls, ground cloves, and clove oil. After rounding up these key elements, the first thing you need to do is clean the tooth in question. Gently brush it, with just water, until it is nice and smooth. Some types of toothpaste, believe it or not, actually contain small amounts of sugar and can worsen your problem.
Now, take a single cotton ball and wet it with the clove oil. This oil is commonly found at most health food grocery stores. Place the cotton ball in your mouth where the pain is and gently bite down. Clove oil is fairly potent, so it is good idea to spit out any excess oil. You may feel some relief right away, but continue to bite down on the cotton ball for about 15 minutes to allow for numbing to occur.
If you do not have clove oil, or are unable to find it at the grocery store, you can use ground cloves, as these work just as well. Pour out a teaspoon’s worth and mix with a small amount of water, so as to create a paste. Then, take a q-tip and apply the mixture to the area to rid it of discomfort. This method will create the same numbing qualities as the above remedy, and may take about the same amount of time for its effects to occur.
