The vagina is a very important part of a woman’s body and needs to be looked after just like any other part of the body. But as it can be a taboo subject, basic vaginal health is often overlooked. Here are a few tips for a healthy vagina.
Stay Healthy
As a part of your body, and like many other body parts, the vagina will benefit if your body is healthy overall. Eat right and stay in shape.
Stay Clean
Infections can be caused by sweat and oil builds up and does not go anywhere. When this happens, just like stagnant water anywhere else, it begins to fester and can lead to infection. Wash regularly simply with a wash cloth with unscented soap and water but do not wash inside, it does this itself.
Use Condoms!
Very obvious this but of course condoms help prevent the spread of diseases.This is one that is very easy to follow and gives so many more benefits that just vagina health.
Wear Cotton Underwear
The Cotton lets air in as you go about your daily business. This air circulates preventing build up and maintaining healthy skin.
Remove Your Old Tampons
The best advice here is to use a smaller size and change more often. Do not leave a tampon in for over 6 hours. It is also a good idea to change out your pads frequently to avoid a “nappy rash” like irritation.
Avoid Scented Soaps
The trick is to avoid any scented soap as it can fester in the crevices of your vaginal area. The part that leaves the scent also leaves a trace that you do not want.
Visit the Gynaecologist
They’re the experts and they will spot anything you won’t.
Rinse!
Especially if you use soap, but in general always rinse well while bathing.
