Daktacort includes two main ingredients Hydrocortisone and miconazole. Hydrocortisone also known as corticosteroid. Corticosteroids is a hormone that is naturally produced by the adrenal glands including functions of control of inflammatory responses. Hydrocortisone helps in decreasing redness/burning sensation of the skin like dermatitis and eczema. It provides a great relief from itching, puffiness, redness and swelling. Upon applying the Daktacort 30g cream on the skin; the cream is absorbed into the skin cells and thereby prevents the release of certain chemicals from the cells.

The other ingredient of the Daktacort cream is Miconazole which is also known as imidazole, is a antifungal medicine that kills yeasts, bacteria and fungi. Imidazole helps in preventing fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol; it is a component of the fungal cell membranes which is important for their survival. Miconazole is useful in treating infections caused by bacteria and fungus like streptococcus and staphylococcus.

The combination of Miconazole and hydrocortisone in the Daktacort 30 g cream is effective in treating various skin disorders such as eczema. The cream can be used to treat skin infections and provides relief from symptoms of inflammation like itching.

Daktacort cream can be used to treat the following skin conditions:

• Skin disorders such as dermatitis, eczema, bacteria or fungal infection

• Inflammation between the areas of the skin that rub each other

• The cream provides relief from the rapid fungal skin infections

• Daktacort is mostly required for the moist skin, the thicker ointments is suitable for the scaly or dry areas of the skin

Below mentioned are the directions for applying the Daktacort cream:

• Before applying the Daktacort cream, wash and pat dry the skin gently.

• The affected area of the skin should be applied with the Daktacort cream thinly and evenly by rubbing it gently

• Dont forget to wash the hands after applying the cream

• The cream should not be used as a moisturizer

• Should only be used as external use on the affected areas of the skin.

• If the cream comes in contact with eyes, nose, mouth, rinse with cold water.

• The affected skin area should not be covered with bandages or other air tight dressings.

• The cream should be stored in the freezer at 2-8° C. The cream can also be kept at room temperature i.e., at or below 25° C.

Daktacort cream should not used on the areas of skin which are affected by

• Tuberculosis

• Viral infections like cold sores, chickenpox, shingles, and genital herpes

• Skin infections by gram negative type of bacteria

• Skin Thinning

• Stretch marks

• Groupings of fine blood vessels becoming prominent under the skin
