Prempro is a medication commonly prescribed for patients in need of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The drug falls within a category of drugs known as progestins containing conjugated estrogens and medroxyprogesterone acetate.
When the ovaries stop making estrogens, menopause happens usually to women between 45-55 years old. This marks the end of monthly menstrual period or what is commonly referred to as the "change of life”.
Approximately three million women in the United States take Premarin (Prempro) daily to replace hormones lost at menopause. Every woman experiences menopause in a different way: Some may breeze through menopause without any noticeable changes while others experience hot flashes and intense sweating; vaginal atrophy where the lining of the vagina becomes dry, thinner, and less elastic making sexual intercourse extremely painful; irregular menstruation either with a very heavy flow, non-existent, and/or erratic; sleep disturbances and nightly sweats; and irritable mood swings.
Hormone replacement therapies (HRT) such as Premarin (Prempro) were prescribed as a means for reducing postmenopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats, vaginal itch and dryness, a propensity for developing osteoporosis and heart disease.
Premarin (Prempro) received FDA (Federal Drug Administration) approval as a HRT in 1995.

Zyprexa Lawsuits
Zyprexa litigation has been targeted at a number of Zyprexa side-effect problems: Some patients have reported the Zyprexa side-effect of gaining up to 65 pounds after taking Zyprexa. After the weight gain some developed the Zyprexa side-effect of diabetes or glucose abnormalities. Patients who already had the Zyprexa side-effect of theit diabetes growing worse while taking Zyprexa. Worse yet -- patients died from developing diabetes. These patients were never treated for diabetes and didn’t know they had diabetes. Patients under 54 years old, face the highest risk of developing the Zyprexa side-effect of diabetes or having heart attacks and comas when taking Zyprexa.
Zyprexa Settlement - $690,000,000
Eli and Lilly Company stock moved little Friday after Thursday night's announcement of a whopping $690 million Zyprexa settlement. Plaintiff lawyers and Eli Lilly and Co. late on June 9 announced an agreement in principle to settle a majority of Zyprexa claims for $690 million.
