What Mole Removal Can Do For Your Health And Beauty
Mole removal is not something to be taken lightly. There should be a compelling reason for getting rid of moles.
Skin care has advanced so much in recent years. Scars and pimples are no longer something that people have to put up with. Warts and other skin problems too. While,
technically, moles are not skin problems, many people view them as such. That explains the popularity of various mole removal treatments and methods.
What, exactly, are moles and how do they come about? Dark and pigmented lesions on the skin are referred to as moles or, in medical circles, nevi. They can be dark brown, black or even skin tone, and they have varying shapes and sizes. Congenital moles appear directly from birth, while some people's moles appear later in life. These, on the other hand, are termed as acquired moles. The appearance of moles is something that is common in people, although in varying degrees. Physiology has a lot to answer for when it comes to the number of moles one has. You would probably even notice how fair-skinned people have more of them.
There are times when heredity can also be blamed for this. My cousin has a lot of moles all over her body, and we can safely say that it was because her mother also has a substantial number of moles since she was a child. There is a name for such moles: atypical or dysplastic moles. There are also instances when these dysplastic moles appear on the skin due to prolonged exposure to the sun.
There is not one area of the body where moles choose to appear in. A few might appear in one random area, while many more could appear in another. My cousin's face is clear and flawless, free from moles. However, most of her moles appear around her neck and upper chest. It wasn't only until recently that she found out she can actually undergo mole removal procedures to get rid of them.
What is the reason behind people looking to remove their moles? The truth of the matter is, moles are skin irregularities or anomalies. If your moles actually enhance your looks and resemble Cindy Crawford's beauty mark, I see no reason why you should get rid of the moles. But not everybody is gifted like Cindy Crawford and other celebrities with beauty marks. Lesser mortals -that's us -are unlucky enough to be saddled with moles that are far from flattering. They would have to go.
Moles are not removed purely for the sake of beauty. It is possible that these moles could lead to skin cancer or melanoma. In fact, it is considered to be the deadliest form of skin disease. Even moles that seem to be harmless in the beginning can gradually turn into cancerous moles as time passes. This is especially feared by those who have many moles all over the body.
With self-observation and a doctor's diagnosis, you will be able to tell whether your moles are cancerous or not. If the diagnosis says the moles are dangerous, have it removed immediately using any of the mole removal methods available. There are many removal creams or lotions that are tried and tested to be safe and effective, or you could undergo surgery. The type of mole and the stage of the cancer risk will largely determine the treatment that you will choose.
