I used to get doubles of my pictures so I could share them with others -- and that didn't always work out as meaning to share pictures and actually getting around to doing it are totally different actions. Going digital has given me many alternatives that makes it easier for me to enjoy my pictures with family and friends.

In the "old days" your choices of sharing pictures were limited to mailing doubles of pictures to relatives and friends who live far away or carrying around a brag book of the pictures.  Besides sharing the print pictures you could create scrapbooks,Going Digital - What to Do with Your Photos Articles but if you were like me you'd probably have empty scrapbooks and only broken plans.

Now with digital pictures there are many ways to share your pictures that are much easier than before.  These choices are listed in increasingly time consuming order.  Here are ways you can share them:

  • Email a picture as an attachment.  It takes almost no time to do this and most email providers make this very easy to do.  If it isn't easy to figure out use the "Help" on the menu bar and search for "attaching pictures' and follow the directions given there.
  • Share several pictures with an online photosharing site.  It takes more time to upload the photos, but it is more convenient to the people who want to look at them.  If you want to share more than one or two pictures this is the polite way to share them, since you won't overload their inboxes. If you have a lot of pictures attached it takes a lot of time to download and it doesn't take much time to look at the pictures on a photosharing site.
  • Creating a photobook to bring several pictures together into one themed book.  The software for these photobooks is provided online by the photobook publisher you choose.  These books can make a touching gift that doesn't involve a person going online to look at the pictures.  This can be a fairly low time involvement if you only want to put pictures into a book to being very time intensive if you want to retouch your photos and make a highly personal book.  Your choice here, but other people tend to enjoy the easier books as much as the ones that take you a lot longer time  to make. Most photosharing sites also offer the chance to make a photobook.
  • Digital Scrapbooks where you can create highly personal and decorative pages using special software.  You can add digital emblishments, use brushes and other things that I can only imagine.  This is the online world of people who like to scrapbook.  By using digital scrapbooks you can share the book online, email it to a friend, print a page out and mail it, or upload to a photobook publisher to print in a photobook.

Sharing your digital photos in any form is fun and easy to do. Make it a habit to share your pictures and everyone will enjoy them.
