One of the most important issues to consider in developing a modular radio control car system is the standardization of cables and connectors
To control data and circuits of your radio control car, it is imperative to have pins for the PIC. If you had used up 8 pins on each port on each connector, a module would be needed to make use of one or two bits of data (for example, the module RS-232) 6 we would be chosen unused port pins because we cannot insert two tabs at once in the connector.
Connector Pin-out
Get to know about the function of each pin IDC connectors used. In general, all modules have connectors mounted on the edges, so that cables can be placed easily. The row of pins labeled "NC" are to the outside of the PCB. As this stream comes from the plate "central" (which contains the microcontroller) and is regulated by an LM7805, we must be careful with consumption. This is the reason that some radio control car systems motherboards also have a terminal block to provide their own food, so as to avoid charging the voltage regulator on the main board.
Cables
The connection between different modules is solved by using tabbed ribbon cables that attach to IDC connectors in each module. The cables are assembled so as to be symmetrical, i.e., the ends can be exchanged without problems. This makes it impossible to damage a radio control car module for placing cable incorrectly. The "notch" that each connector prevents the tab into a position that is not appropriate.
Cable Group ready to use
When setting up the cables should take care that the existing red wire on the ribbon cable always remains the same side (preferably on the side of the 5V). Although it can be inserted inverted, it never hurts to have a visual reference position.
To be able to swap the cable ends must arm them smoothly as shown in the figure below:
- Data cables are fully symmetric. Because we use the same cables for all modules, you can simply build 5 or 6 of them so we can make all the practices you want.
- Finally, we should not make them too short, since the modules are too close together, making it difficult to handle.
For some of the projects it is necessary to control communication between radio control car micro controllers wirelessly. This is a relatively simple task if done with the right tools, such as a good pair of radios, microphones a good compiler, and a better algorithm for traffic information. This project can easily help you learn how to establish a wireless communication between two microcontrollers, sending a quartet of bits, which can then be seen in the micro receiver.
