5 Things You Didn't Know About How Your Mattress Affects Your Sleep & Health
These days I have been feeling too tired and drowsy no matter how long I sleep. To top all these, there is also this bombarding headache. Otherwise my health was perfectly alright but still I wanted to find out what it is all about.
No prize for guessing that I spent hours surfing the net to find the answer. Believe it or not, the most possible reason I found out to be my own mattress! - Heart problems: Body needs an ideal 8 hours of sleep to strengthen the heart health. People who get lesser than necessary sleep are more at risk of getting heart diseases. If you are not comfortable on your existing mattress and because of that, not getting enough sleep, do not think twice; set out to get a new comfortable one for you. Your heart will appreciate the change for good.
- Memory problems: Our memories are stacked neatly in the right order of its importance in the brain while we are sleeping. If you don’t get enough sleep these memories will be scattered and it becomes difficult to remember something when we need. Occasional forgetfulness is fine and is also normal. But the memory issues stretching for long may have serious consequences. If you are sleep deprived, try another kind of mattress to see if it is your mattress that is to be blamed. If it is, change the mattress immediately.
- Obesity: Drowsiness during morning and all throughout the day is one sign that we all relate to lack of enough sleep. Such insomnia could also lead to weight gain and even obesity in many. Sleep deprivation is one main cause for overeating that happens at both during night and day. The drowsiness makes us lazy to do any real physical activity. The result is weight gain which when prolonged leads to obesity.
- Premature aging: Who would have thought THAT! Lack of enough sleep is one reason to cause pre mature aging. Not to mention the baggy eyes in the morning and loads of cosmetics that we dab on the skin to cover it up. All this causes the skin to age untimely. Studies have also revealed that women who have enough sleep are able to retain their youthful skin. May be I should get a new mattress than finding anti-ageing creams?
- Weak immunity: Our body needs its resting time and that dedicated period is when we are asleep. When the sleep stays away due to a bad uncomfortable mattress, how can the body rest? Non rested body will have poor metabolic and absorption rates which in turn lead to poor or weaker immune system. All sorts of allergies, respiratory disorders, skin irritation etc are readily affected if we are not sleeping on a comfortable mattress.
