So you’ve decided to remodel your bath. You want to have a bathtub corner area to allow plenty of room for all the other amenities. A corner bathtub adds spaciousness to the room, even though the tub may be small in size, while still providing a spa-like experience.

When creating an area for a bathtub corner,Bathtub Corner Articles you need to plan ahead.  Since the tub is one of the first items to be installed in a remodel, you have to be certain the room is designed to hold the length and the water capacity of the bathtub.  It may also require special plumbing and attachments.   You’ll also need to determine if you want a shower, air jets, or a whirlpool included.

Corner bathtubs come in a wide variety of shapes, colors, sizes, types of materials, and price ranges.  When shopping for the tub, try out the various ones for size.  Simply remove your shoes and lie down to determine the correct size.   You want to be sure the model you choose is the one you can live with for a long time.  It could be the last one you might ever buy, so choose the one that fits you and your lifestyle best.

The standard American bathtub is about fourteen to seventeen inches deep, while the European and Japanese style tubs are eighteen and twenty-two inches deep, respectively.  If you enjoy leisurely soaks at the end of a rough day, you might want to choose a tub that is large and deep enough for you to stretch out and immerse yourself.

Once the depth has been chosen, you will need to decide if you want a built-in style or one that is freestanding.  The built-in style in an American bath is the alcove tub.  This means the inner edge is located against a wall and is accessed from the front.  Normally, it is available only as a shallow tub.  The walls surrounding a bathtub need to be covered in waterproof sheetrock or tiles.  The alcove tub often includes a shower, so you will have to determine what types of doors or curtain you want.

A freestanding bathtub is a great retro look that is making a comeback in many remodels.  Available in the same slanted back and ornate legs of Victorian bathtubs; these tubs are available in acrylic, porcelain, or even cast iron.  Just be aware that the freestanding corner tub will have exposed pipes.

Other options when considering a bath remodel include the tub and shower combination unit, which is molded fiberglass coated with acrylic.  These units are virtually leak proof.  The Roman, Japanese Ofuro-style tubs, and the sunken and garden tubs are also good considerations if price isn’t an option.  Just remember, each of these style tubs will require special framing.

Remodelling your bath gives you the opportunity to install that bathtub corner area so you can free up space and give you a deeper tub to soak in.  Whether your bath is small or you have a generous room, take your time to investigate the different styles available in today’s market.
