No bathroom is complete until it's been tiled.  Although there are wallpaper manufactures out there who claim they produce wallpapers which are 'ideal for the kitchen or bathroom',Choosing Bathroom Tiles Articles they are never anything more than splash proof and are therefore not at all suited to a wet environment. Even in a bathroom with no shower, a few rows of tiles around the bath is necessary as this area of your bathroom wall will receive more than the occasional splash.

Although not as easy to fit, in the long term you'll save your self a lot of hassle by opting for bathroom tiles as they are perfectly suited to shield your interior walls from the water produced by splashing and showers. There is a wide range of bathroom wall tiles available. They come in a massive variety of colours and finishes and can be mixed and matched to give your bathroom a very distinctive and truly original look.

Many tile shops will have plenty of bathroom tiles on offer, especially if they only have one or two boxes of a particular design left. An old acquaintance once bought all the 'last boxes' for next to nothing and in spite of the fact that no two boxes of tiles were the same colour or size, he created an incomparable and visually aesthetic mosaic style design using a menagerie of ceramic bathroom tiles... and he wasn't even a professional tiler!

Bathroom wall tiles can be mixed and matched if that is your preference, but not everybody wants to use a 'Technicolor' bathroom day in day out, so it's far more common to choose one main colour. This can be complemented with a 'frieze' or just the odd tile in a contrasting colour. However bear in mind that whatever colour or colour combination of bathroom tiles you choose, they are likely to be in situ for a number of years, so unless you're made of money, the wrong decision could be a costly eyesore.

Ceramic bathroom tiles are usually cheaper than natural stone, slate or marble tiles as they are manufactured and glazed in vast quantities for relatively little cost. The beauty of ceramic bathroom tiles lies not only in their cost but also in the huge variety of styles they can be manufactured in. These include classic plain white or other light tones, some bearing patterns or designs and others being virtually indistinguishable from the more costly natural stone, slate, granite or marble tiles. If you've decided exactly how you want your bathroom wall tiles to look before you've even seen what's available, then chances are you're far more likely to find the perfect tiles in the ceramic range than in the natural one.
