Painted Kitchen Cabinets to Refresh Your Old Kitchen

There are several ways to update and revive your kitchen, and one of some easy ways is repainting your old kitchen cabinets.

To get a good painted kitchen cabinets, you have to plan it carefully. At first, you have to check the cabinets' frames and doors. If they are still in good condition, it will be easier for you to get your painted kitchen cabinets. Painting kitchen cabinets may sound simple and easy. But in fact, it is not that easy. • Plan your painted kitchen cabinets It is better if you already have a plan and a picture in mind; how your new cabinets are going to be. Decide what color you want to use and plan if you want to add any other decoration.

• Prepare the tools The tools that you need are sponge, cleaner, sandpapers, paint brush, primer, paint, paint spray, and elbow grease.

• Prepare the room If it is possible to paint the cabinets outside, it will be better. But if you can't make it and have to paint it inside the house, you have to remove the fragile things to other places. Cover the countertop of the cabinets and the backsplash with plastic. Knock down the doors. Unscrew the hinges, pulls, and the knobs.

• Clean the cabinets Use sponge and cleaner to clean the cabinets (all surfaces that is going to be painted).

• Prime the cabinets and sand them Use the paintbrush to apply a layer of primer. I recommend 2,5-inch paintbrush. Let the primer dry in one side before you apply on another side. Do this to all parts, --including the inside of the cabinets if you plan this surface is also painted. After several hours, make sure the primer dry and you can sand the primer. I recommend 220-grit sandpaper. If it is necessary, you can apply the second layer of primer then sand it again until smooth

• Brush or spray Now, you can start to paint your Kitchen Cabinets.You can brush them with paintbrush or paint spray. Start with thin layer and continue to next layer. Make sure one side is dry first before you flip the other side.
