The Simplicity of Kitchen Curtains

If you are one of those lucky people who possess sewing machine skills then you may be able to sew your own kitchen curtains in a style and design that suits your taste.  In fact, by being innovative and creative you can use a cheap or expensive fabric, lightweight or heavy material, in bold or plain colors in a range of different patterns and styles.  

Probably the easiest style of window dressing you can make from cotton curtain fabric bought from a curtain fabric supplier is the kitchen valance.  This window dressing is basically just a strip of fabric that is hung from the upper portion of a kitchen window.  When measured, sewn and pleated a curtain wire needs to be threaded through the valances sewn overhang and then hung and secured by hooking the two ends of the curtain wire into eyelet hooks fastened to each side of the window frame. 

There are also curtain suppliers who have available for consumers a selection of ready-made curtains in different fabrics, colors, styles and patterns.  These kitchen curtains can be reasonably priced and a lot cheaper than having them made to measure.  You will need to be aware though that when buying ready-made, you may be disappointed with the different measurements and limited color selections that are available.      

Kitchen curtains can also be effectively used to enhance the theme of a kitchen that may have an interesting nautical, tropical south seas, oriental, American west or farmyard theme to name just a few.  For example, if the kitchen and adjoining rooms are themed to showcase memorabilia of the old west then café curtains or kitchen valances with imprinted scenes of wagon trains or other American west scenes would be ideal.  A nautical theme could also look stunning in a kitchen, especially if the décor is highlighted by eye-catching kitchen curtains imprinted with colorful tropical fish species in all shapes and sizes.  

Because the kitchen is a room that is frequently used to prepare and cook meals it is important that it projects an atmosphere that is welcoming and inviting.  By having stylish kitchen curtains that blend in seamlessly with the interior kitchen décor and theme a sense of calm and relaxation can be achieved, which is what most people appreciate after arriving home after a hard days work.
