Android users will, of course, want to watch Amazon Instant Video from their mobile devices. Whether you use a tablet or a phone, you will want to take advantage of your Amazon Prime membership and start watching your favorite movies and television shows. This is possible, but it is not as simple as you might think.
Unlike other applications, it is not a straightforward viewing app. You will have the opportunity to watch the show or movie of your choice, yes, but there is a second application to install and it does not work for everyone. It is still possible to watch if you would like to, though.
If you have Android version 4.4, live in the US or UK, and would like to download the Amazon Instant Video application, you must go to the Amazon web store. You cannot find the application through the Google Play store, at least not for most devices. What you will find on the Google Play store is an application for Google TV. It is the Amazon Instant Video application, but it is not compatible with most devices. Unless you have Google TV, that one is not going to work for you. You will have to go through Amazon’s own website if you would like to download it.
Choosing to download from the Amazon store will mean you have to download an extra app. Amazon requires that you download both the app itself and a second APK file, which is not from the Google Play store, to view your videos. It may not work with your tablet, either, though it may still run on your phone.
For Chromecast users, there is no available app. You cannot download anything to watch through your Chromecast. What you can do, though, is switch from Silverlight to Flash. Doing so will allow you to watch on your television using Chromecast and the tabs. It may not work as well as a regular streaming service might, but it will still allow you to watch your movies and television shows on from your television. Just keep in mind that this might result in difficulties with viewing your videos fully or easily.
Remember that you cannot go offline. Like any other streaming service, it requires a connection to the internet to work. Without that connection, you may not have the ability to view your television shows and movies fully.
