There are many different companies that design websites. Have they ever built a website for a recruitment company before? Do they understand the recruitment industry? Does their website integrate with your database?

Do you recruit mostly for warehouses or for offices? Are you a medical recruitment firm or do you mostly employ welders? This is probably the most important question a design firm could ask because if they don't know this, your website is going to be generic looking.

WHY DO PEOPLE DO BUSINESS WITH YOU?

There are thousands of recruitment companies in the United States alone. There are probably at least 4 or 5 in your market right now. Why should a prospect choose you over your competition? If you don't know the answer, think about it now. If you do, make sure your web designer does too. Your website should always tell the visitor what makes you different than your competition.

This seems really simple, because it is, but many designers forget to ask this question. When someone comes to your website, there has to be a desired action. Do you want them to fill out a form? Do you want them to email you? Call you? Sign up for the newsletter? Your website should always be directing your visitors to do what you want. Otherwise, what's the point?

They are used to having job boards and the ability to apply online. If you don't incorporate these features into your recruitment website, you are already behind.

You should always feel comfortable speaking with your web design firm. Sometimes ideas are hard to put into words, and you need to feel like your web design firm will listen, care and understand. Nothing is worse than having your web designer try to squelch your creativity, or even do it by accident because you just don't seem to speak the same language.
