You have to ask for the sale if you want people to buy. Although it can be that simple,Copywriting Tips - How to Get Your Customers to Take Action Articles there are many brochures, sales letters and websites out there that aren't asking.

OK, so what is a call to action?

A call to action is telling people what action you want them to take. This will be an essential component if you want to see an increase in leads, customers and income.

Typical calls to action are: "Buy Now", "Special Offer Ends Today", "Offer Available Today Only", "Visit Now", "Click Here Now" and "Visit Now". You might be thinking - isn't that obvious? Why would anyone be running and ad if they didn't want someone to buy what they are selling? Well, it's true that if they stop and think about it, people do know that you would like them to buy from you. However, an unfortunate truth is that most people don't spend that much time thinking about it. People just have too much going on in their personal lives to spend much energy or time on your business. If your promotional material or ads don't contain a call to action and people read it, they're likely to say, "Oh, that sounds nice" and then go on to the next thing.

Even if they are interested in purchasing your offer, they just many not know what their next step should be. Should they visit a store? or Go to a specific website? Chances are that they won't do anything at all if they don't know what they should be doing. You need to tell your potential customers exactly what they need to do and how to do it. Remember, people are busy, and if you don't make it easy for them to do business with you, they probably won't do business with you at all.

So lets go over the above call to actions. Did you notice they had something in common? Look at the words "now" and "today". When potential customers think they can buy from you anytime, they will likely say - "Oh, I can do this later". And, rarely do they come back later. Therefore, while they're still interested, you need to give them a reason to buy right now. Using urgency or scarcity techniques is a great way to push people into doing what you want them to do now rather then later.

- How to Write Your Call to Action

Here is an easy step-by-step formula if you don't know where to start or what to include in your call to action for your promotional material.

First, you need to figure out the purpose for your ad or promotional material. Why are you creating this website or running this ad?

- To get your name out there? Ask for people to pass on your material to friends or business associates.

- To generate leads? Ask people to sign-up to receive a free ebook

- Get people to buy? Tell them to "Buy Now - Limited Time Offer"

Whatever the end result you want for your campaign or ads is what you should be asking people to do - that's your call to action.
