Search engine optimization of your online copywriting,Simple SEO Practices For Your Online Writing Articles referred to as SEO, will boost your site's ranking by search engines such as Yahoo, MSN or Google. These sites have web crawlers that continually monitor the internet and look for useful and informative content that can be indexed, and thus found easily and instantly with organic searches. You can improve the SEO of text or copy by choosing relevant keywords or terms that are searched for, and using them judiciously in your writing.

Optimizing your content involves choosing and using methods to make your copy relevant to a particular search term or user query. The first step in optimizing copy is to choose a single keyword or keyword phrase that will be the theme for your copy. Use a keyword tool that will reveal the exact words or phrases people use in searching a topic. Your entire page should be written around this one keyword or phrase.

Once you have chosen your keyword, you want to ensure it it visible to the search engines. Use it in the title, preferably near the beginning, and make sure your title flows well. It is what will appear first of all on search engine results pages. Keep your title to a maximum of around 70 characters, since most search engines only show that many characters.

Another way to increase the optimization of your site or copy it to always include a description, telling what it is about. This should be a short piece, and again must include the keyword or phrase. This summary can be a meta description for search engines to find, some short copy, a sub-heading on a web-page, or even just the first paragraph. Within Word-press, for example, is a section that allows you to add this description, increasing the SEO.

Within a page or article, the use of heading tags optimizes copy for search engine indexing. These can be made obvious by using bold text, using H1 or H2 tags. The use of bullets within an article or piece of copy will also emphasize keyword presence, and increase your page SEO.

You should also use one or two other relevant keywords or phrases from your initial keyword research results that closely relate to your primary keyword. Search engines that analyze your pages will look for not only your main keyword, but look for related phrases that commonly are searched for. Just make sure that all keywords are used in a natural and flowing way, and in a density that appears natural to a reader.

Both images and videos are popularly searched for, thus indexed highly with search engines. When you include images, always include Alt and title tags. These tags are a natural way to use your keywords. What Alt tags do is inform the searching spiders about the type of image, as well as appearing as an alternate on a page when the image does not appear for some reason. The title, of course will show beneath the image.

One other way to optimize your page is to have hyperlinks on your page that leads to another relevant page on your site. The anchor text for the link should contain your keyword. This should work both ways within a website. Use of links that connect the site pages let search engines promote the overall relevancy of a site, ranking it higher. Include also some outbound links that lead to quality authority sites.

Write easy to read copy that flows, has value to others, and uses key phrases in a naturally occurring way. As you write, practice these SEO techniques to boost your credibility with search engines and searchers to help you gain higher rankings and more inbound traffic.
