A sleep debt refers to the amount of time of sleep that we should be receiving and the amount of sleep time that we are actually getting. It is not advisable to work and perform when one owes a large debt to their beds. One is more likely to behave in a clumsy and confused manner. Most health professional and doctors agree that a person that has gone an entire twenty-four hours without sleep is comparable to a person who has consumed a large amount of alcohol.
