Having the right set of Diablo 4 Gems can significantly improve your gameplay experience. Whether you want to increase your Resistance or boost the damage buildup of your favorite attacks, these shiny stones deserve a special spot in your inventory. The bonuses usually start low, but they eventually get better as you place rarer Gems in all your gear slots.
However, as much as everyone wants these buffs, the only way to get your hands on these Gems is to craft them using Gem Fragments. Furthermore, with the addition of Occult Gems in Season 7, the stakes are even higher as you must now find thousands of Gem Fragments to get the best boosts. Therefore, in this article, we will cover the best farming methods for Diablo 4 Gems, let’s get started:
Farming Gem Fragments in Diablo 4 can be a time-consuming grind. Whether you're aiming to maximize your build or prepare for endgame content, you'll need tens of thousands of Fragments. That’s why finding a consistent and efficient source of Gem Fragments is crucial for maximizing your build. Fortunately, you have two options: farm them yourself or buy Diablo 4 Gems to skip the hassle entirely.
Purchasing Diablo 4 Gems allows you to bypass the grind, giving you more time to focus on your build instead of farming. This way, you will have a massive advantage over other players who are still collecting Gem Fragments throughout Season 7. But if you'd rather take the traditional route, here are the top 5 fastest methods to farm unlimited Gem Fragments in Diablo.
Note: Each Diablo Season brings at least one new event or mechanic to boost the Gems supply. So, feel free to explore other horizons to boost your Fragments supply further.
Headhunt is the latest seasonal content introduced in Diablo 4 Season 7. These are specialized Helltide-like events where players must clear the indicated zones from Witchcraft-infused enemies across Sanctuary. These zones will periodically pop up on the map, and you can even participate in multiple zones before the timer expires. The best part about this event is that a single run will yield anywhere from 40k to 100k Fragments, which you can then use to craft Diablo 4 Gemstones or even Occult Gems.
We completed 3x Headhunts in under an hour to test out the new event. To make things even more fun, we also tried three different strategies to clear the zones; here are our results:
The first attempt took us a total of 15 minutes. During this event, we mainly stayed within the same zone, killed Fugitive Heads, and completed numerous Whisper Bounties, which gave us 3x Whispers of the Dead Caches. Also, we activated 1x Cleansing Pyres and defeated 9x bosses, including 3x Fugitive Heads. Overall, this single run yielded around 45,400 Gem Fragments.
The second Run was less yielding as we tried to clear multiple zones simultaneously. Basically, after killing a Fugitive and collecting the Orange Cocoons, we quickly shifted to a nearby Headhunt Zone in a new area. Unfortunately, this strategy didn’t give us any Cleansing Pyres, and we only got around 3x Whispers of the Dead. In total, this unyielding run dropped around 39,800 Gem Fragments.
For our third run, we improvised on our second strategy to get better rewards. Basically, instead of quickly switching between the Headhunt Zones, we grinded the Zone for a few minutes after killing the Fugitive. Oh, and maybe we got lucky this time as we got 5x Cleansing Pyres and killed 7x bosses. As a result, this run yielded 1x Whisper of the Dead Cache, 4x Regular Caches, and no Fugitive Heads. To sum it up, the third run got us around 63,700 Gem Fragments.
Honestly, Infernal Hordes used to be the fastest way to farm Gem Fragments in Diablo 4 before Season 7’s Headhunts. The goal of this event is simple: fight your way through massive waves of enemies and stack up your Aether supply. Finally, challenge and defeat the Fell Council boss and use all of your Aethers to open special material chests. Generally, players get thousands of Gem Fragments for all seven types of Diablo 4 Gemstones from just a 15-minute run.
In our experience, we managed to run 11 Waves in under 16 minutes and got around 845 Aethers. Finally, we defeated the Fell Council and exchanged all the Aether for the Spoils of Materials chest to get Obducite and Gem Fragments. In total, so far, we have managed to get about 30k Gem Fragments in a single run, but that’s with our non-speed farming build. At least, this trial answered how IGZ stocks up its Diablo 4 material supply.
Diablo 4 Gem Farming has become more of a chore for almost everyone since the launch of the Loot Reborn Season. So, players are forced to exploit the fastest methods of looting these bad boys daily. In this regard, looting the Resplendent Chest in the Temple of Rot seems to be the only non-combat way to get guaranteed Fragments every time. Even though the drop rate is low, it is a superb way to get some extra Fragments while you wait for other events. However, you can only exploit this method if you haven’t completed the Temple of Rot in the Dry Steppes yet. Here’s how it works:
Note: Just make sure to avoid all the enemies inside the Temple of Rot, or you might “Accidentally” clear the area and get permanently locked out of the exploit.
Next up in our Diablo 4 Gems Guide is the Champions Exploit, tipped by a Reddit user. You can get guaranteed Gem Fragments by slaying all the Champions in the game world. Champions or Knights are basically the big purple glow-y enemies that provide DMG resistance to all nearby troops.
While you can find these Champions scattered around the world map, it seems a bit tedious to run all over the world map, specifically hunting for them. Instead, you can focus on the PvP zones marked on the map, as they are always around regardless of your difficulty and character levels.
Secondly, you can also try the Malignant Burrow and the Hall of the Penitent dungeons for some guaranteed kills. In our experience, both these dungeons have at least 3 to 4 Purple Elites, each dropping around 250 to 300 Gem Fragments of Random Gems. Moreover, both these dungeons are super short, so you can re-run them several times in under 30 minutes and get thousands of free Fragments without losing anything.
All you have to do is enter the dungeon, kill all the Elites (Champions + Knight Penitents), collect your Fragments, Leave and Reset Dungeons (use the Reset Dungeons Button in the Side Quests Tab).
If you are still wondering, “how to get Gems in Diablo 4?” Despite our exploit strategies, you must be really determined to get them all! Well, you are in luck, as we still have plenty of farming strategies to keep you going for the entire Season 7. In this regard, the D4 Helltide Events are the best bets if you have depleted all of the previous sources. All you need to do is wait for a Helltide Event, head to the marked zone, and start slaying all the beasts in your sight. Your goal is to kill as many foes as possible to fill the Threat Meter and spawn the formidable wave of demons.
Every fallen will drop a random amount of Gem Fragments, and the Demonic Waves will serve as Elites, further boosting the drop rates. If you manage to somehow stay alive until the end of the Event, you will leave with anywhere between 20k to 25k Gem Fragments in one go. Additionally, you can open the Tortured Gifts of Mysteries to retrieve even more Gem Fragments in the same run. The only problem with this method is that you must be really good at crowd control as the enemies will come from all directions. Also, you must wait for the Helltide to respawn after the cooldown timer, which you can exploit by trying out our other farms.
Now that you have mastered all the Diablo 4 Farm Gem Fragments techniques, it is time to learn how to use them. You can use your Gem Fragments to craft different types of Gems and place them in your gear sockets to get special buffs. Alternatively, you can also use thousands of these Fragments to get the Season-Special Occult Gems. Lastly, you can also learn “How To Upgrade Gems Diablo 4?” to enhance your current stones using Gold.
Next, all you need is some spare sockets in your favorite gear items and populate them with the most powerful Gems that you can craft. However, first, you must unlock the Jeweller by progressing through the main story campaign until you reach Character Level 20. Next, equip your favorite weapons and head to the Jeweller “Kratia” at Kyovashad.
Make sure you have Scattered Prisms & Gold in your inventory to add new sockets to your existing gear. Navigate to the third Tab in the Jeweller menu and Drag & Drop your desired gear item from the right side of the screen. Finally, spend the required amount of Scattered Prisms and Gold to add a new Gem Socket to the item.
To sum it up, Diablo 4 Gems Fragments are of utmost significance in the new Loot Reborn Season, mainly due to the Occult Gems mechanics. However, players find it hard to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for these Fragments due to a lack of reliable sources. Therefore, we have taken it upon ourselves to help you uncover the Best Farming Methods to Get Gem Fragments Fast in Diablo 4.
