How the process works
The process was developed by Azotic Coating Technology, Inc. and (mystic fire topaz earrings) and other pieces entered the market in 1998. Using a patented technique developed called physical vapor deposition, a very thin layer of titanium is applied to the underside of a white topaz. As light waves pass through the stone and the layer of titanium, the refracted light displays an array of blues, reds, greens and purples.
