One of the most popular changes in recent social psychology has been the advent of affirmations for self esteem. Of course, people have been using these for years, but it is only recently that they have been common in the mainstream media.

What Do You Do?

In order to start making affirmations for self esteem, you need to determine in what areas you are having doubts. If you don’t feel that you are as good as other people because of your weight, or your career, or your lack of a relationship, then you need to focus on that. If you are feeling down about the way that you look because you have put on some pounds, then that is a great place to start.

What Do You Say?

There are several ways to go about this, but if you are dealing with your weight, it is a great idea to keep telling yourself that not only do you look great right now, but you will look and feel even better when you meet your first weight goal. Most dieters set far off weight goals that are virtually unattainable, but by setting smaller goals, you will be more likely to get there, and then you will feel great about yourself.

Help From Others

Ideally, your friends and family should be providing you with affirmations for self esteem just because they love you, but we often find ourselves in situations where that just isn’t the case. In fact, many of us find that our biggest enemies in the self esteem department are our own family members.

So if you are struggling to keep your head up within your own family or group of friends, then it may be time to have a talk with them about the way they are treating you, and if you have no luck, then you might want to physically or emotionally separate yourself for a while until you can find people who will be willing to positively affirm you. Good friends and family will always be there to encourage you, and if you find that they aren’t, then you need to know that you deserve a lot better than that.
