The critics have deemed the Law of Attraction, better known as The Secret, a false belief wherein all you have to do is "think and you get what you want." If you are a Law of Attraction practitioner, you already know that nothing could be farther from the truth.
To apply the Law of Attraction it takes work on the inner self in order to change repetitious mental patterns into patterns that will benefit your life. If it was just about thinking, we would all have all our wants right here instantly.
To change our mental patterns, we have to get past our logical mind that seems to revel in telling you about every danger and pothole in life. We seem to focus on the negatives of life through the logical mind that believes it is trying to keep us safe and 'real'.
So what is real? Real is what you see with your eyes through your own perception. If you change your perceptions, then you will change your mental patterns in the logical mind, to see and live the life that you desire.
So how do you retrain the logical mind? This is the crux of the Law of Attraction and it doesn't just take "thinking it away."
You have to go deep within yourself and find the thoughts and feelings that are causing your perception of seeing lack or fear (to name a few) in your life. When you have "lack" on your mind and emit those feelings, the Universe will bring you situations and feelings that emulate what you are focusing on. Find the root of the lack. Why do you feel the need to experience lack? Part of the source for this can be ancestral mental patterns.
Maybe Great Grandpa Joe despised 'rich' people and thought they were all crooks. So when Great Grandpa Joe's son was born, Great Grandpa let little Joe know about the 'rich' people. Then when little Joe became a daddy or an uncle, those thoughts kept getting passed right along with the strong feelings attached to them. So you could feasibly be harboring Great Grandpa Joe's thoughts and feelings yourself. By finding those feelings and thoughts and by realizing you don't need those thoughts any longer you are on your way to letting go of those old mental patterns you didn't even know you had. It doesn't matter if you know where the thoughts came from, just be aware of them and then replace them with a positive thought. When you take away one negative thought you always want to replace it with a positive thought. This is when affirmations come in handy.
By changing your mental patterns in your logical mind from negative to positive thoughts, you will be getting rid of negative mental patterns and replacing them with positive ones. You'll start looking at the world from a different perspective and the Universe will recognize this and change the world around you to what you are focusing on.
The logical mind is there to make sure you are safe in this physical world but it doesn't mean that you have to look at the world through negative glasses. Your logical mind can still keep you safe, but with the brighter light of the Law of Attraction.
