The perfect performance of Hyperflight open a new prologue for the shoes design industry. Eric Avar, as the designer of these shoes, has devoted more energy in the design process compare with other shoes, so the reward he had got was really deserved. Diiferent from the other shoes' design inspiration, a car, the simply athletes demand, or even the background under the shoes, his inspiration for this shoe was simply from one of the Nike Company partners.
Although Nike Company had once a special team focused on the design of lightweight shoes, the concept and inspiration of these shoes were all come from Bill Bowerman, a coach of the Oregon University who was once a partner of NIKE Company. Avar explained, when he was only a layman of Nike, far from those proven success of Bill, he just followed the footsteps of these predecessors to go forward. The story of Bill's Nike is really mysterious, he left all his legacy and money to Nike.
For most people, they do not familiar with the story of Bill as the track coach of the legendary Oregon University. Avar said, "I have once seen Bill, and I know very well the significance of him to NIKE, and my design of Hyperflight is undoubtedly contributed to him". His story inspired me, and I was also appreciate him.
At that time, the demand for basketball shoes, street ball culture, hip-hop appearance and the constantly promoting personality of the basketball players, the arrogance and fearless Hyperflight was ready to come.
Ten years past since the birth of Hyperflight, its design principle is still work in today's design requirement. When people recall the ten years development of basketball shoes, many companies adopted the physical buffer of a molded plastic upper and stiff.
