Rays more effective than Red Sox,Rays In Playoffs, Petra Kvitova In Pan Pacific Open Semis Articles reaches playoffs
If both the Tampa Bay Rays and the Red Sox had both won or lost their respective games of yesterday, they would have met in Florida today in order to decide who was to advance to the playoffs, but luck, it seems, was on the side of Tampa Bay, as they managed to beat the Yankees in great fashion, as they overcame a 7-0 deficit scoring 6 runs in the 8th, one more in the 9th and a final walk-off home run by Evan Longoria, giving the Rays the final and surprising 8-7 victory over New York. On the other side of the fence, the Red Sox blew a 3-2 lead over the Orioles and lost the game 4-3, allowing Tampa Bay to make it to the playoffs after snatching the American League wild card playoff berth.

Kvitova luckier than Sharapova
Maria Sharapova hasn’t had much luck lately, as the veteran lost against Petra Kvitova at the Wimbledon final, allowing the Czech tennis player to conquer her first major championship, and Sharapova again empowered the chances of Kvitova of obtaining another important title such as the Pan Pacific Open which is being held at Tokyo, as the Russian got injured on her ankle when she landed awkwardly after hitting a serve in the middle of her quarterfinals match against Kvitova, who is now on the semifinals where she’ll have to play Vera Zvonareva.

Vick might start against Redskins
As his hand is not broken, Michael Vick seems to be ready to play against the Redskins on Sunday, as this was confirmed by the player himself, who said that “Even if it was broke, I think I would have probably padded it up and went back out there, you got to take precaution, but this is what I love to do.” Of course this is not only Vick’s decision, as coach Andy Reid also gave his OK, and only wants to be sure that Vick can take some snaps without any major problems.

Stafford is behind the Lions’ success
It is the first time since 1980 that the Lions are undefeated that late in a season, and it seems like Matthew Stafford is the man that ended with the Bobby Layne curse, as a healthy Layne is currently performing like an Elite quarterback and only Aaaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have currently better stats than him, and if he continues to perform the way he’d been doing so, it is likely that the 40-year drought since Detroit had a pro bowl quarterback is going to come to an end.
